How to Play & Trivia
The Raindrop Prelude
Chopin’s Prelude in D-flat major, Op. 28 No. 15, is commonly called the Raindrop Prelude. A repeated note keeps returning through its calm opening and later sections; the middle passage turns toward C-sharp minor before the D-flat-major music returns.
Listen and practice
The complete MIDI lasts 4 minutes and 27 seconds and contains 1,518 notes across two piano parts. Listen for the recurring accompaniment beneath the changing melody, then practice the left-hand pattern separately before joining the hands. Compare the quieter outer sections with the more tense central passage.
